Description

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1)      Assists Maintenance Director with the facility   maintenance   program (heating,  cooling,   plumbing,  water,  gas,  electrical,  mechanical,  oxygen,  communications,     carpentry, painting,   plastering,   refinishing and similar work/heavy   duty   cleaning,   grounds   care,   maintenance   of institutional   equipment   and   vehicles)  as directed .

2)      Requisitions supplies and equipment for use in department activities.

3)      Keeps records of work performed and costs involved.

4)      Coordinates work of maintenance department with other department functions so as not to interrupt patient care or normal business functions.

5)      Advises and consults with Maintenance Director on maintenance and repair needs concerning structure,  equipment and grounds. 

6)      Assists with the inspection of all equipment and systems regularly for proper functioning and safety as directed by Maintenance Director.

7)      Assists with the inspection of the building and grounds regularly for compliance with local codes,  ordinances and safety regulations as directed by Maintenance Director.

8)      Prepares and submits reports,  as directed by Maintenance Director.

9)      Able to be on call for emergencies.

10)  Able to attend department head meetings,  workshops and institutes.

11)  Be able to perform any or all duties concerned with electricity;  plumbing;  painting (including resurfacing floors,  walls,  ceilings);  carpentry (including furniture refinishing or repair);  mechanics (including equipment and mechanical systems);  hearing,  cooling and water systems;  except those services performed under service contract with outside contractors.    .

12)  Performs duties concerned with maintenance of grounds,  parking lots,  driveways,  etc.   May include gardening,  landscaping,  clean-up,  snow removal,  etc.  except that performed under service contract.

13)  Performs heavy custodial duties such as scrubbing and buffing;  cleaning of basement;  storage,  utility areas;  washing walls,  ceilings,  outside windows;  changing screens and storm windows;  changing light bulbs in ceiling fixtures and housekeeping duties in very high places;  removing and disposing of garbage and trash;  others.

14)  Runs errands;  handles incoming and outgoing freight;  lifts and moves heavy furniture and equipment;  other miscellaneous duties as directed by the Maintenance Director.

15)  Responsible for the care,  maintenance and repair of institutional property,  equipment and grounds as directed by the Maintenance Director.

16)  Responsible for the care and use of supplies and maintenance of equipment used in performance of duties.

17)  Be able to keep adequate records.

18)  Able to take emergency call.

19)  Follow established safety and infection control procedures.

20)  Participates in all required inservice training.

21)  Maintains safe working conditions and follows dress code.

22)  Reports to supervisor all complaints and grievances made by residents,  families and visiting individuals.

23)  Adheres to and promotes Code of Conduct.

24)  All other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

******  Must be COVID vaccinated or willing to complete a religious or medical exemption form.  Job would be pending until exemption is approved or denied.  If exemption is denied no job offer will be made unless the applicant receives COVID vaccine.
